YIKES!, NEWS!, and Monday Made It!

I begin with an overwhelming "YIKES!" I am literally down to hours left...(well two weeks before the kids come), but I am back on the clock Thursday. (Do we really ever get off the clock? LOL) we finally got the okay to go into our school last Thursday, but we were out having a quick trip to the Ft. Worth Zoo, and we got home late Saturday night...so my sweet hubby and I went to my school yesterday.  And this is how my new classroom welcomed me....

The stress has set in. However I'm feeling a little better, as my husband volunteered to help me paint my room to freshen it up a bit and today I spent the better part painting trim and touching up the mistakes! I still have one wall of trim left and the doors, but boy do I feel better. I am so thankful to my husband, I couldn't have done it without him.

Now for the news... I will now be teaching ELA instead of Math and Science. I received the news Friday, and feel good about it. We all know how things can change over the summer as staff members leave campuses from time to time and as part of the team we do what's best for our students and school.

As I said earlier, last week we took a short family trip to Ft. Worth to take my little guy to the zoo.  He loved it, and I think mommy and daddy were loving his reactions even more! So I didn't have a lot of time to work on more goodies, but I did make some labels for my white photo boxes and some calendar helpers, and I'm linking up with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics Monday Made It! to share with you.

I love my little table laminator! It is awesome.  Can you believe I didn't own one until just this year! Click here for a free editable file for the photo box labels.
These are the calendar helpers I created for my class.  I can't wait to see how they'll look.

I hope to have an update on the status of my classroom next time. Off to get some sleep! Wishing you all a great week!

One More Week and Monday Made It!

The countdown officially begins!  I report back to school in 10 days, and I still can't get into my school! Yikes! Panic beginning to settle in! Okay, I'm just going to have to be positive about this!- There is absolutely nothing else I can do, but be positive!-

I was able to be a little creative this past week.  I went to Hobby Lobby and found some great crafty items and I made two simple projects to share with you this week with 4th Grade Frolics Monday Made It.

These are the items I found ....

I started with the letter B.  Two years ago I made a letter for all of my first grade co-workers, as a beginning of year and welcome to first grade gift! This is what they looked like....

I used fun scrapbooking goodies, and stayed true to my love for the primary colors. Well...I wanted to make a new letter B to coordinate with my new color scheme....so....

I painted the backside an aqua color.  I used to use newspaper to paint and glue on, but wax paper really works better. I can reuse it and even wipe it clean!- I also like to use old extra plastic lids as paint holders, they are easy to clean and reuseable....

I cut  strips of paper, and

 glued them down.

The fun part is cutting the excess paper with a box cutter blade!- Okay not so fun, but it gets the job done!

and  then added my name with stickie letters, some ribbon, and embellishments!

What do you think?  I know you probably can't see well, but the paper on the right side is actually little rulers! (I hope you can't see my little mistakes, either!)

I also "crafted" the little glass jars.  My plan is to use them to house paperclips, rubber bands, and either pencil topper erasers, or small binder clips.  This project was simple.  I found matching quatrefoil pattern ribbon to wrap around the jars and hot glued them into place with a flower embellishment! I can't wait to fill them up!

This week I plan to work on crafting the white photo boxes for use in the classroom, and hope to share with you next week.  I also hope to get in to my class!-
Oh and don't forget TPT is having their BTS sale! Everything in my store is 20% off and add the TPT code for a total of 28% savings!

BTW....I had some time to sneak in Iron Man 3 and The Avengers this past week! I must say Iron Man 3 is my favorite so far... :)
