Monday Made It Link Up and MARVELous Movies!!!

Time? Time? Anyone have extra time? It seems that my time is simply getting away from me!  I'm still trying to catch up on laundry from last week! LOL I did however manage to create some matching calendar numbers for the calendar month headers I made earlier this month and I'm linking up with 4th Grade Frolics Monday Made It, to share it with you.

On a  different note, I have started to shop for some new items for my classroom.  I finally made a decision on the color scheme, so I can finally commit! I've noticed some teachers have been blogging about starting school in two weeks!- WOW!!! I'm feeling stressed and the kiddos won't be back until the 25th (I officially go back on the 14th); oh and I'm still not sure if our school is ready to enter! (Our school has some remodeling taking place this summer.) It's all good though, I'll just take it one day at a time...Like I said I did find some items ...I visited our local teacher store and found these great borders/trim and a really nifty calendar. Tomorrow I'll hit the craft stores around town, and hope to get an idea!

And still yet on another note, I must make a confession....while I have been home these past couple of days, busy catching up on laundry and attempting to be creative; I have also been enveloping myself in the world of MARVEL Comics Movies! Folks, I had never seen any of the Marvel Movies!- I know, right?  Well, a couple of Sunday afternoons back, I turned the television to FX and they were airing Iron Man.  I watched it, and was hooked!~Since, then, I've watched Iron Man 2, Thor, the 2nd Thor movie, and Captain America!  I love them!- I went to the movie rental place to pick up another one...and so I'm off to watch...
The Avengers! So excited!

A Late Monday Made It Link Up

I finally made it home! I've been away from home for a few days, for a really good reason, and I know I am late; but I am still going to try to link up with this week's Monday Made It! I had the pleasure of attending the CAMT (Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching) in Ft. Worth for the first time!- I must say, I had a really great experience, but was so glad to come home to my little 2 year old son!
Moving on......
So how do you print your color files? My home printer does a good job, but I really like the way they print on the laser copiers at the local office "shop"; the colors are so vivid. I also like the fact that the colors do not bleed if it accidentally gets some water exposure! I just take in my travel drive and the friendly folks in the printing center have it ready in no time.  Well, with all that said, I went in to print a few files to create my "Monday Made Its"...

The first thing I printed were these Welcome postcards.  I had to print them out to really look at the colors to help me make a decision on my classroom color scheme, which I think I have decided!

or

Click on the color scheme labels above for a free download.  (FYI: They print two to a page, and you will need to print them front to back if you want the nifty address/message/stamp side to show, otherwise print them as single pages!)

For my #2 Made It, I created an alphabet banner (as a handwriting reference) for my class.  Can you tell which color scheme I picked?  I tell you what, it has been a hard decision, but I think I can use some of my old "stuff" with this color combo better. I made the alphabet banner, but I can't go into my classroom yet; due to some remodeling in progress.-I know, I know, time is ticking really fast and I sure hope I can get in before our professional development days begin!-

I cut the banners out and used coordinating scrapbook paper to mount them.

So here is pic of the ribbon I plan on  using to hang the alphabet banner on the wall!-

I can't wait to see them posted in my classroom!- Then another idea came into my head.... if you print the banners on a smaller scale and mount them to longer pieces of scrapbook paper then laminate....you can create a word wall! Can you kind of imagine the word wall? (Just thinking out loud! LOL)

Now I don't have any trips planned for next week, so I hope to be on time with next week's Monday Made It! See you then!

My First... Monday Made It!!!

What  better way to "enter" fully into the blogging world than to link up with other awesome blogs? I'm attempting my first link up to 4th Grade Frolics Monday Made It, and here I am!  Let me just say, I've been inspired by so many of you, and look forward to creating, creating, creating!

After being inspired, by Tara from 4th Grade Frolics, I created some letters with the color scheme from my blog last week, and made a Welcome Poster/Sign for Fourth Grade. I think I like the colors....you see I'm experiencing a "classroom color complex", as I decide to change the color scheme for my fourth grade class. (I'm making a move from first grade to fourth grade!) For my "First Monday Made It"....I made a poster for more grade levels, Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.

The next project I worked on is the same. However, after a friend pinned a great color find on Pinterest, ...I just can't get these colors out of my head! So my "classroom color complex" has become intensified...I love, love, love these color combinations... (from Benjamin Moore Paints)

These colors set my mind into an Aqua, Yellow, and Gray Color Scheme mode, and I made Welcome Poster/Signs for Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.

More Self-Encouragement

Okay, so this morning I thought I would dabble a little more in these color combinations.  I'm "trying" the colors out.  I made some matching letters, after I was inspired from reading this week's 4th Grade Frolics, Made it Monday post.  I created a Welcome poster.  I originally created it to print on an 11'x17" paper, but of course, you can always change the paper dimensions when you print it out!-  Then it came to me, I could make coordinating postcards to welcome my new students!- As I mentioned before, I'm feeling a lot more confident with blogging.  I learned how to attach a file to my blog, so if you are interested, click for a free download!

A First Grade View to Fourth Grade....

I've been playing with the idea of changing my classroom color scheme.  I have always used the primary colors (+green) to decorate my classroom, and I do mean always! (...like 15 years of always!) My friends have tried to convince me several times to change it up a bit. Well, let's just say I might!- I am however a little "OC" about everything matching and that is where I can run into trouble... finding everything to match.  The closest "organizational store" is 3 hours away, so IF, I do make a change, it will have to be well-planned.

Here are a couple of pics from my last classroom from first grade and the first grade blog I created...

Now, I work in a school that was originally built over 60 years +,  ago.  It has had three buildings added to it over the years.  My last class was located in one of the newer buildings. (If you'd like to view complete pictures of the classroom, click here.) As I make my move to fourth grade, I will be moving to a classroom located in the original building!  It is currently undergoing some updating, so I hope it will be ready in time to prepare it before the school year begins!
This summer I created this fourth grade blog, and after a lot of researching, I am feeling more confident with blogging...and I will continue learning more to incorporate. That being said....
I really like the colors in this blog design, and I am really thinking about using them in my fourth grade class. I'm really diggin' the different color combinations!- So, I decided to tread the idea of changing the color scheme, by creating some calendar headers, and I am starting to "feel it."

Let me know what you think?  Should I use this color scheme? Maybe? Well if you like these calendar headers, pick up a free download here.... (Calendar Headers) or click on the pic above; and stay tuned to see what color scheme I end up using.
